Hybrid Electric Bus Purchase (Bow Valley)

The Hybrid Electric Bus Purchase (Bow Valley) Project (the Project) consists of the purchase of 5 fully accessible hybrid electric buses to operate primarily on Banff and Canmore local transit routes and to be utilized on Canmore to Banff and Lake Louise to Banff Regional routes, replacing the diesel buses currently being used in this service. This Project also includes the installation of bike racks on all 5 hybrid electric buses. A mix of hybrid and electric buses has been chosen for this Project to allow for the use of low emission technology while still maintaining the range of a non-electric vehicle. With Roam having 30% of its’ fleet electric, there is a need to have a portion of the fleet equipped with extended range capabilities to enable the completion of the full scope of daily services. Winter conditions in the mountains, coupled with the extensive hills that Roam buses tackle each day, are challenges for fully electric vehicles. Hybrid buses mixed into the fleet fill that v
