Description

Description

Delivered in 28 months built by our Buildings business vertical, the Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was India’s first Aerotropolis, that is basically a core airport city surrounded by clusters of aviation-specific businesses. It caters to 40+ million passengers per annum and was the first greenfield airport built in public-private partnership incorporating the best of facilities from different parts of the globe. The airport is South Asia’s first A-380 aircraft compatible and at 4,260 metres, had one of the longest runways in India. Our mandate included construction of the complete airfield lighting system, fire-fighting system, fire rescue station, installation of the aviation hydrant system, etc. complete HT/LT electrical power networks as well as sewage and water supply networks. A unique aspect of the airport is the Kalzip roof, a propriety product of Corus Building Systems, Singapore consisting of composite layers of GI liners at the bottom followed by cement boards, vapour barrier, rock wool insulation and a Kalzip sheet at the top. The system had excellent thermal and aesthetic properties.
