Description | Multiple hydro-power projects with an investment of over ₹1 lakh crore are underway in Arunachal Pradesh to produce 18,000 MW of power. These projects include allocations to North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVN), and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). The projects were previously allotted to private developers but were non-starters, and now central hydro PSUs are executing them. The Lower Subansiri hydro-power project of 2000 MW is expected to start generating power next year, and a larger 2880 MW Dibang multipurpose hydroelectric project is also under construction, expected to be commissioned in 2032 with the tallest dam in India. |
