Hydrogen Component Testing Projects at Southwest Research Institute

Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) received $1.75 million in funding through the ENERGYWERX program to support eight hydrogen-focused research projects. These projects aim to improve the safety, reliability, and performance of hydrogen energy infrastructure by testing critical components used in hydrogen production, transportation, storage, and end-use applications. The work includes pressure cycle testing of hydrogen check valves, evaluation of valves for underground hydrogen storage, expansion of liquid hydrogen testing infrastructure, testing of ultrasonic flow meters for hydrogen-natural gas blends, gas analysis sensor testing, and evaluation of O-ring materials in hydrogen environments. Many projects are conducted at SwRI's Metering Research Facility.
