Hydrogen Electrolyzer Pilot at Ribatejo Power Plant

A pilot project at the Ribatejo combined cycle power plant in Carregado, Portugal, where hydrogen is produced on-site using an electrolyzer that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity. The hydrogen is compressed, stored, and blended with natural gas to enable electricity generation with lower carbon emissions. The pilot tests hydrogen production and turbine performance with a natural gas blend to validate technical, environmental, operational, and economic conditions, supporting future larger-scale green hydrogen projects and turbine adaptation for co-combustion.
