Description
Description | The project HTPO deals with origin, potential and common management measures of cross border thermal water resources in the region Laa - Pasohlávky. The thermal waters, which are already used for balneological purposes and which occur at depths of more than 1000 meters below the surface of the earth, have significant potential for future tourism or energetic applications and can contribute to a more ecological region. It is a sensitive resource that can be damaged by uncoordinated overuse or, if misused, has technical or environmental implications. Thermal waters in the region cross borders and therefore a common management concept and sustainable use must be ensured in order to preserve resources for future generations. The aim of the project HTPO is therefore to describe these thermal water resources in a geoscientific model and to evaluate associated potential uses and conflicts of use. Based on the best possible knowledge of the thermal water resources in the region, strategies and concrete measures for future joint management are to be developed together with decision-makers and regional stakeholders. For this purpose joint proposals are to be developed to create a legal framework. As a model of the planned measures the hydrothermal border area AT / Bavaria can be used, which is confronted with similar problems. The core outputs create a geoscientific model of thermal water resources in the form of maps and explanations as the 1st core output future usage planning. The 2nd core output is a catalog of strategic measures based on the 1st core output and is the basis for a joint institutionalized management of the thermal water resource. The cooperation with the regional and national stakeholders in both countries is planned. Efficient and sustainable use is the goal. The innovation content of HTPO lies in the integrative study of potentials and risks (e. g. induced seismicity, groundwater protection) as well as in dialogue with regional stakeholders. This should form a common perspective for the sustainable development of geothermal uses, in particular for the production of ecological heat. The awareness on both sides of the border regarding the sensitivity of a responsible use of natural thermal waters should be further developed and strengthened. |
