Description

Description

The HyNet cluster, one of the UK's first carbon capture and storage (CCS) clusters, has been expanded to include up to ten potential projects. These projects encompass low-carbon power, hydrogen production, bioenergy with carbon capture, and direct air capture initiatives aimed at reducing industrial emissions. The cluster captures emissions from industry in northwest England and north Wales, utilizing depleted reservoirs in Liverpool Bay with an initial storage capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per annum, potentially increasing to 10 million tonnes per annum after 2030.
