Made the name of Hyundai E&C known to “China's Silicon Valley” The city of Wuxi in the Jiangsu province is geographically favorably positioned with its beautiful natural environment. On its north, Yangtze River flows, on its south, it adjoins with Taihu Lake, on its east, the mega consumption city, Shanghai exists, and on its west, Nanjing exists with an international airport. Wuxi also has “SK hynix Semiconductor (China) Ltd. Wuxi Plant” where Hyundai E&C took part in the construction.Completed the project through four stagesWuxi, in which top three freshwater lake of Taihu Lake is located, is called a “small Shanghai” in China where industrialization was still ongoing. While the Chinese government intensively nurturing the delta region of Chengjiang as “China’s Silicon Valley” created through Nanjing and Shanghai including Wuxi, the city was transformed into a center city leading the China’s IT industry. That’s why SK Hynix Semiconductor (China) Ltd. is also located in Wuxi.Hyundai E&C won the project of the new construction of the Wuxi plant from SK hynix in August 30, 2005. The entire project was constructing a 200·300㎜ wafer production line within Wuxi, the technology development district, in Jiangsu with the joint investment (USD 2 billion) of SK hynix, STMicroelectronics, and the Wuxi government. Hyundai E&C took on constructing key facilities including a clean room (142,149㎡, 4-story building) and sewage and wastewater treatment establishment.Clean room means an environmentally-controlled, enclosed space observing numerous requirements including temperature · humidity · illuminance · air current · air pressure besides the particles floating in the air. Wafer is produced in this place, a fertile ground for memory chip as a special space where harmful gas, noise, and even noise are controlled upon necessity.Took care of all processes even those of other companies What matters most in the clean room construction are experience and technical prowess. If any disruption occurs in memory chip production due to a delay in construction period, enormous economic loss is caused due to the economic feature of memory chip changing rapidly on a daily basis. When an issue occurred in the schedule of finish work of clean room, the ordering organization and Project Manager(PM) requested us to manage the overall process and delayed construction caused by other companies. Hyundai E&C members managed the entire construction site, checked the status of the construction process of other companies, and even inevitably engaged in the construction directly despite their own busy tasks. While transferring the abundant experience and technical competence of Hyundai E&C to local partner companies, we thoroughly checked each of all the processes. As a result, Hyundai E&C was able to meet the construction deadline agreed with the ordering organization.
