Description
Description | Meta's Hyperion AI data center project in rural Louisiana is planned to reach 5 GW of capacity with an estimated cost of over $50 billion. Construction began in December 2024, and the project will become Meta's largest data center, located in Richland Parish. The project was initially planned as a 2 GW campus but has expanded through successive updates. Meta is investing over $1 billion in local infrastructure improvements including roads, water, and wastewater systems. The data center is expected to reach 2 GW of computing capacity by 2030, with plans to scale up to 5 GW over several years. The project will create more than 5,000 skilled trade jobs during peak construction and around 500 permanent operational jobs. |
