Description | Transmission system operator Bayernets GmbH has received approval to proceed with a project to convert an existing gas pipeline for the transportation of hydrogen in south-eastern Germany. The project, called HyPipe one, covers a pipeline with a length of about 15 km in the German federal state of Bavaria. Conversion will begin later in 2025. The infrastructure will be part of Germany’s hydrogen core network and is located near the border with Austria. The pipeline will allow the connection of the region with hydrogen import corridors. HyPipe one is part of the larger HyPipe Bavaria – The Hydrogen Hub initiative. Bayernets together with partners plans to gradually build a hydrogen network of around 300 km in Bavaria. Commissioning is planned for the early 2030s. |
