Description | Hyundai-Posco Louisiana Steel has planned a greenfield electric arc furnace (EAF) steel mill in Louisiana. The project includes equipment to feed recycled steel into the furnaces and support the integrated melt shop and downstream casting operations. The facility will produce high-quality hot-rolled slabs for low-carbon, high value-added automotive steel grades for the North American market. The contract includes two EAFs with secondary metallurgy, two thick slab casters, two slab reheating furnaces, and a direct-reduced iron (DRI) plant with a nominal capacity of 2.5 million tpy, designed to be hydrogen-ready with carbon capture technology. |
