Description

Description

The I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Replacement project is a $2.3 billion public-private partnership aimed at modernizing a critical freight and energy corridor in southwest Louisiana. The project involves replacing the existing 1950s-era Calcasieu River Bridge with a new high-capacity bridge designed to meet current seismic safety and traffic demands. The new bridge will have three 12-ft travel lanes in each direction, an auxiliary lane, 12-ft shoulders, enhanced lighting, and fully electronic tolling. The project also includes reconstruction of approximately 5.5 miles of I-10, adding lanes to reduce bottlenecks, construction of a new elevated Sampson Street interchange, and improvements for pedestrians and cyclists. The project is expected to generate significant economic impact and job creation, with completion targeted for 2031.
