I-20 @ I-520 INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION

This project consists of improvements to I-520/Bobby Jones Expressway from north of Scott Nixon Memorial Drive to south of Wheeler Road, a distance of 1.9 miles. The Bobby Jones Expressway/Scott Nixon Mem. Drive intersection will be reconstructed to provide a grade separated interchange with full access between Bobby Jones Expressway and Scott Nixon Mem. Drive. The I-520/I-20 Interchange will be improved by replacing two loop ramps with directional flyover ramps for I-520 northbound to I-20 westbound and for I-20 westbound to I-520 southbound. A pair of collector-distributor roadways will be added adjacent to I-520 from south of the I-20 interchange to south of Wheeler Road. I-20 will be widened to a six-lane facility from east of the Wheeler Road Interchange to east of Walton Way Extension/Davis Road, a distance of 2.4 miles. An eastbound collector-distributor lane will be added adjacent to I-20 from west of the I-520 Interchange to just east of Walton Way Extension/Davis Road.
