This project is located entirely in Richmond County, Georgia. It consists of improvements to the existing culvert conveying Crane's Creek under I-20 and raising the grade of the interstate highway to prevent flooding of the roadway. Improvements to the culvert include construction of an overflow weir box on the inlet end so that the weir simulates the existing weir flow over the existing I-20 profile; and, three additional box culvert barrels to accommodate the overflow. Improvements to the roadway include raising the profile grade to an elevation, which provides one foot of freeboard between the 100-year storm elevation and the bottom of the subgrade of the roadway. Also, the interstate will be widened to match the typical section of I-20 as proposed for the adjacent project at the I-20/I-520 Interchange. The typical section is three 12' lanes each direction with 28' median and median barrier and 12' outside paved shoulders with side ditches.
