I-25 Traffic Safety Improvement Project North of Pueblo

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) started a four-month project to improve traffic safety on a six-mile stretch of Interstate 25, from Exit 114 near the El Paso/Pueblo county line to Exit 108 (Pueblo West/Pueblo Boulevard interchange). The project includes installing cable guardrail along the V-shaped median to prevent rollover crashes and vehicles entering opposite traffic lanes, repairing traditional guardrails along the freeway shoulders, improving drainage by cleaning culverts and inlets, installing a weed barrier, and addressing buckling concrete trim on the Pinion Bridge on southbound I-25. The project aims to enhance safety and is expected to be completed by August 2026, with overnight lane and shoulder closures during the work period.
