The proposed project consists of improvements to the intersection of Cobb Pkwy and the I-285 eastbound off-ramp. The I-285 eastbound off-ramp approach currently operates with dual left-turn lanes and triple right-turn lanes. An existing right-turn lane will be converted into a left-turn lane at the I-285 eastbound off-ramp at Cobb Pkwy. The other two existing right-turn lanes will be re-striped and a raised concrete island will be constructed between the right and left turning movements. Additionally, striped pedestrian crosswalks will be provided across Cobb Pkwy and both eastbound ramps. Curb ramps will be constructed within the new island and within the existing concrete median and islands. The northbound lanes along Cobb Pkwy will be restriped under the bridge to ensure that all northbound through lanes are at least 12 feet wide. Additionally, the stop bar striping along the northbound travel lanes will be shifted slightly as a result of the placement of crosswalk striping.
