Project IM-285-1(347 is the proposed widening and reconstruction of S.R. 8/U.S. 29/Lawrenceville Highway in Decatur from Frazier Road/McLendon Drive, west of I-285, to Lovelay Lane, east of I-285 (approximately 1.2 Km). Lawrenceville Highway will be widened to six lanes, three lanes in each direction, with a raised median and turn lanes as needed at intersections from west of Linkwood Lane/Spruce Valley Drive to east of Lee Road. The raised median varies from 6.0 meter to 8.4 meter in width. Curb and gutter and sidewalks will be provided on both sides of the roadway throughout the project limits. In addition to the original improvement, the proposed project will be modified to accommodate the future addition of the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicles) lanes along I-285. The existing Lawrenceville Highway bridge over I-285 will be replaced and widened from five lanes to eight lanes with a raised median (3 lanes in each direction with two-left turn lanes as originally proposed.
