The I-285/Peachtree Industrial Boulevard Interchange Improvements project is an I-285 Advanced Improvement Project (AIP), part of the Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP). The project will provide local road improvements earlier, mitigate traffic challenges during the construction of the future express lane projects, provide early operational improvements to general purpose lanes, and maintain healthy competition among construction developer partners. The I-285/Peachtree Industrial Boulevard Interchange Improvements project is approximately 0.8 miles in length, and will include the following improvements: Combine the I-285 westbound exit ramps to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard north and southbound Improve the horizontal curve of the Peachtree Industrial Boulevard northbound exit ramp, reducing the bottleneck from I-285 Construct single-lane bridge over Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, which will connect to the existing southbound ramp from I-28 Reconstruct the ramp to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard northbound, adding another exit lane In order to accommodate the reconfiguration of the exit ramps, the existing frontage road, Flowers Road, will be permanently closed. The project is being delivered through Design-Build which accelerates the project schedule by overlapping the design and construction phases and benefits the public by reducing construction times, mitigating traffic impacts, and maximizing the use of resources and project budget.
