Description | This project involves replacing the Interstate 35E bridge over Shepard Road at the Mississippi River in St. Paul. The project includes closing Shepard Road between Lexington Parkway and Otto Avenue starting April 20, 2026, with an expected reopening in the fall. A temporary embankment will be built to carry two lanes of traffic in each direction on I-35E over Shepard Road to keep I-35E mostly open during construction. The northbound I-35E exit ramp to Shepard Road will close for about a month in summer 2026. Minnesota 5/West Seventh Street, Otto Avenue, the Sam Morgan Regional Trail, and Lexington Parkway will remain open during construction. A second phase scheduled for 2027 will involve repairing the I-35E bridge over the Mississippi River. |
