I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion project in Virginia

The project involves the design, construction and improvements to the I-64 corridor between I-664 in Hampton and I-564 in Norfolk to provide a consistent six-lane capacity throughout the corridor.The scope of work includes a new Hampton Roads crossing approximately 3.5 miles long and generally parallel to the existing Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT). In addition, the project includes widening and reconfiguring I-64 to add an Express Lane in each direction. Over 10.2 miles from Bland Boulevard to the I-664 interchange (exit 264), the existing high occupancy vehicles (HOV) lane will be converted into an Express Lane alongside three free general-purpose lanes. Additionally, for the remaining 1.3 miles between the I-664 interchange and Armistead Avenue, one general-purpose lane will be converted into an Express Lane in each direction, alongside the two free general-purpose lanes.
