The proposed project, reconstruction of the I-75 at Rocky Face interchange, lies entirely in the northern limits of the City of Dalton, in Whitfield County. The project length along I-75 is 1.04 miles (mile post 335.07 to mile post 336.11), along SR 3/US 41/US 76 (Rocky Face) is 0.70 miles (mile post 20.9 to mile post 20.2). The interchange configuration will remain as a diamond interchange with an additional ramp in the northwest quadrant. The existing I-75 median will be utilized to accommodate the future lane to the inside. Ramp improvements will be to the outside. The I-75 Bridge over SR3 will be replaced and the I-75 Bridge over Mill Creek will be widened. The NB and SB exit ramps and NB entrance ramp will be reconstructed. SR 3 will be widened with an add'l lane in each direction to a six lane roadway with urban shoulder and a 20' raised median, which will accommodate single left turn lane to access I-75 NB & SB. Traffic signals will be modified at major intersections.
