Description

Description

The section of SR 99 that crosses over I-95 is functionally classified as a Rural Major Collector. The speed limit along this section of SR 99 is 55 mph. All existing ramps at this diamond interchange consist of one, 16-foot lane with a 6-foot inside rural shoulder and 8-foot outside rural shoulder. This project proposes to reconstruct the SR 99/I-95 interchange in order to raise and lengthen the bridge. The interchange reconstruction removes the design variance and exception (for sub-standard horizontal clearance and sub-standard shoulder widths) from the I-95 widening project PI # 511100, NH-IM-95-1(117). The current two-lane bridge will be replaced by a bridge with two, 12-foot through lanes, two opposing left turn lanes, a variable (8' to 32') raised median and two 4'2" bike shoulders (one in each direction).
