Inclusion is like air. You only become aware of it when you miss it “I Want In” aims to equip martial arts organizations and youth workers with inclusive working tools. In 2018, the rate of young people aged 16 to 29 at risk of poverty or social exclusion in the EU was 26.3%, or 20.6 million young people, according to Eurostat. In the partner countries, this rate was: Romania (35.3%), Italy (33.6%). Martial arts organizations often end up working with excluded young people. Unfortunately, most martial arts organizations do not have the knowledge to work with them in a structured manner. This information comes from the responses to a questionnaire created by the partner organizations and distributed to 25 martial arts organizations in Romania, Italy. Inclusion means accommodating different people in an open-minded group to work together harmoniously. It is addressed both to disadvantaged people and especially to typical people. It must be seen as being open to the unknown. Sport is a social activity that is being used as an inclusive method. The target group to which this project is addressed is: coaches, sport instructors and youth workers, martial arts organizations, organizations working with disadvantaged people, sports organizations, and other stakeholders interested in the inclusion of disadvantaged people. Through this project, martial arts organizations will be able to implement a structured inclusion process whenever they meet disadvantaged people. The creation of collaborative networks between sports organizations and especially between martial arts organizations leads to the alignment of inclusive working methods at European and international levels, their improvement, and to the development of a society free from prejudices and based on mutual aid.
