Description | The Trump administration plans to overhaul the U.S. immigrant detention system by renovating industrial warehouses to hold more than 80,000 immigrant detainees. The plan includes establishing large-scale warehouses with capacities of 5,000 to 10,000 detainees each near major logistics hubs in several states, including a facility in Stafford, Virginia, and smaller warehouses holding up to 1,500 people each, including one in Merrimack, New Hampshire. The warehouses will be heavily modified to include intake areas, housing units, medical units, and other necessary facilities for detainees. |
