Description
Description | The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) planned to spend nearly $40 billion to buy dozens of warehouses across the US to convert them into makeshift detention camps for immigrants as part of a mass deportation effort. The warehouses, previously on the market for years, were purchased at massive markups, with some bought at more than 1000% profit. The plan involved converting these warehouses into detention facilities with capacities ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 detainees each, aiming to hold over 100,000 detainees across more than 20 facilities. |
