Description | Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has awarded a $29.9 million contract for the concept design phase to repurpose vacant industrial warehouses into large-scale detention centers across the United States. These warehouse-based detention centers are planned to be more than twice the size of current ICE facilities on average, aiming to significantly increase detention capacity to 100,000 detainees by the end of the year. The project capitalizes on the availability of large empty industrial buildings amid rising warehouse vacancy rates. |
