The objectives of the Bengkulu Regional Development Project are to: a) alleviate poverty through rural development in Bengkulu, and b) generate economic growth in rural areas of Bengkulu where growth potential is high. This project consists of three components. First, the village infrastructure component will support a short program of village infrastructure development in each village, which includes village roads, bridges, jetties, improvement of small-scale irrigation facilities, water supply facilities, and sanitation facilities. Second, the village-based technology adoption component will support agricultural development of the project villages by identifying specific technology packages suitable for Bengkulu, and preparing implementation guidelines for each identified technology package. Third, the capacity building/implementation support component will assist the government agencies concerned in implementing the project, build their institutional capacity, and disseminate the project-related information.
