Somalia is affected by a severe food crisis, both acutely and structurally, and at the same time there is a lack of financial resources and financing partners to counteract the crisis. Somalia is a founding member of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), but cannot benefit from its services due to arrears. A grant of EUR 6 million will partially settle these arrears and future repayments. This will enable IFAD to implement agricultural development projects in Somalia again. The target group of the project is the rural population in regions of Somalia particularly affected by hunger and poverty.
