Description

Description

The primary objective of this project is to generate a reinvestment fund based on admissions achieved in 2024, dedicated to the acquisition, promotion, and theatrical distribution of non-national European films in Romania. The aim is to continue fostering cultural diversity and circulation of European works by supporting a sustainable and impactful distribution strategy. Independenta Film '97 SRL is the longest-running European film distributor in Romania, with a portfolio of over 350 theatrical releases since 1997. With a strong editorial focus on European arthouse cinema, the company is committed to showcasing works from both established auteurs and emerging voices. The company strategically acquires films selected or awarded at major international festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, ensuring cultural and artistic relevance. In a national context where 90% of screens are multiplexes, the company aims to maintain its core arthouse identity while adapting to market demands by diversifying its catalogue to include more commercially viable titles. Minimum 60% of the generated fund will be reinvested in minimum guarantees (MGs) for film acquisitions. The remaining amount will support P&A (prints and advertising) and release costs, ensuring broad audience outreach through strategic marketing campaigns. Strategic Distribution Plan: Acquire 10 to 12 European non-national titles for theatrical release during the eligibility period. Leverage partnerships with Romanian film festivals (e.g., TIFF Cluj, Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest) to build early awareness and audience engagement. Collaborate closely with major cinema chains (Cinema City, Cineplexx) for optimal release windows and on-site promotions. Continue investing in digital outreach (social media campaigns, influencer engagement), complemented by traditional media advertising.
