Description

Description

The Iguaçu National Park, created in 1939, by Decree No. 1,035, is home to the largest remnant of Atlantic forest (seasonal semi-deciduous) in the southern region of Brazil. The National Park protects a very rich biodiversity, made up of representative species of Brazilian fauna and flora, some of which are threatened with extinction, such as the jaguar, puma, broad-snouted caiman, purple-breasted parrot, hawk-eagle. real, peroba-rosa, ariticum, araucaria, as well as many other species of relevant value and scientific interest. This significant biological variability added to the unique landscape of rare scenic beauty of the Iguaçu Falls, made the Iguaçu National Park the first Conservation Unit in Brazil to be established as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO, in 1986. Joined by the Iguaçu River to the Iguazú National Park, in Argentina, the Brazilian Park is part of the most important biological continuum in the Center-South of South America, with approximately 1 million hectares of natural areas, with more than 600 thousand hectares of protected areas and another 400 thousand in still primitive forests. The Iguaçu National Park is today an example of sustainability, where socio-environmental development is carried out with integration between protection and conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources. Competition Notice No. 03/2021 was published on December 17, 2021, with the receipt of ENVELOPES taking place on March 16, 2022 and the auction on March 23, 2023. The Novo PNI Consortium, formed by the Cataratas do Iguaçu Group and Construcap won the competition by offering a bid of R$375 million, representing a premium of 349.45% over the minimum bid of R$83.434 million. It was one of the largest auctions ever held in the sector, as it is a place with consolidated infrastructure that receives, on average, more than 2 million tourists per year. To guarantee environmental preservation, the concession project foresees investments of more than R$500 million in new infrastructure and another R$3 billion in the operation of the park during the period, scheduled for 30 years. The new concession has the potential to triple the number of visitors to the park, with the expansion of the concession area and the making of investments capable of increasing the attractiveness of visits. Resolutions and Decrees: CPPI Resolution No. 79, of August 21, 2019 – Opines for the qualification under the Investment Partnership Program of the Presidency of the Republic – PPI and for the inclusion in the National Privatization Program – PND of the conservation units Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses, Parque Jericoacoara National Park and Iguaçu National Park, for the purpose of granting the provision of public services to support visitation, conservation, protection and management of the units. Decree No. 10,147, of December 2, 2019 – Provides for the qualification of conservation units within the scope of the Investment Partnership Program of the Presidency of the Republic and their inclusion in the National Privatization Program.
