Description | The project involves the rehabilitation and operation of the Ikere Gorge Dam, located in the Iseyin local government area of Oyo state. The dam will generate 6 MW of electricity for dam operation and rural electrification. It will supply irrigation water to the 12,000ha middle Ogun irrigation project; raw water to the water compacts of Oyo state for treatment and distribution to Iseyin, Okeho, Iganna, and environs; and raw water to Lagos state's water corporation for treatment and consumption within the Lagos municipality. As of December 31, 1997, the civil works of the dam are 99% complete. But the mechanical and electrical works are still pending except for the installation of penstock and raw water conduit pipe. |
