Illinois Continuum of Care Housing Subsidy Program

planned

The project involves federal funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Continuum of Care program to subsidize permanent supportive housing for formerly unhoused people in Illinois, primarily those with disabilities or severe mental illness. The program provides funding to over 100 groups statewide to run affordable housing or pay rent subsidies to private landlords. New federal rules are drastically changing funding priorities and reducing the amount of money available for housing-first policies, potentially causing evictions and homelessness.
