Description | The Illinois General Assembly passed the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act (CRGA) to create incentives for energy storage projects. The program involves state-administered auctions where project developers sell credits for energy storage resources, aiming to bring 3 gigawatts of storage online by December 31, 2030. The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) will conduct procurements starting within 90 days after the act's effective date of June 1, 2026, targeting at least 1,038 megawatts of stand-alone energy storage resources connected to the MISO and PJM grid systems. |
