Description

Description

The Illinois Valley Reliability Project involves a 23-mile stretch of 138-kV transmission line, upgrading and rebuilding the existing Princeton substation in the City of Princeton, and building a new switching station called Lima near Peru. The project aims to improve energy reliability for communities in La Salle and Bureau Counties by constructing a new transmission line connecting the Princeton substation to the new Lima switching station. The Lima station will provide electricity to the City of Peru and La Salle County, adding an additional feed to support future growth and development. The project includes building access roads along Interstate 80 and steel poles 80-120 feet tall with 7-8 structures per mile. Completion and operation are planned for 2029, enhancing economic growth and energy resiliency in the region.
