The broad project objective is to alleviate pockets of poverty in Trinidad's rural communities by equipping at risk young persons with an opportunity to learn skills leading to employment. The immediate objective is to create a skills training centre that offers certified programs in cosmetology and beauty therapy to at risk young persons in the rural communities of North. Eastern Trinidad. The Bridge of Hope has developed a proposal that will provide technical and on the job training for 16 students in the first year with job placement of 11 trainees with 5 being retained to support training of future students as well as to provide services on a for profit basis from the Image Skills Centre. Revenue from this business enterprise will be used to finance operating costs for training 16+ additional students each year on an ongoing basis, thus ensuring sustainability of the Image Skills Centre over time.This project supports private sector development, which is identified as a priority in the Bank's current Country Strategy Paper for Trinidad and Tobago.
