Description
Description | Taking into account the EU Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life and strengthening remembrance of 20th century Jewish history with a particular focus on the Holocaust from a transnational yet local, microhistorical perspective, the IMAGINE project will engage university students, school students and (pre-service and in-service) teachers from Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia and Croatia. In each country, the project partners will organize a series of interactive events including in situ workshops, webinars, transnational training seminars, and a national commemoration event including film screenings and historical walking tours. Two transnational teacher training seminars and one transnational student conference will ensure a European dimension and that the project outputs will be shared across borders. The project will use a gender-sensitive approach and focus on the role of Jewish women in the 20th century and during the Holocaust; the partners will employ biographies, films, and audio walks on female Jewish Holocaust survivors, all based on the Centropa archive, to connect its target groups with the topic. To depict Jewish life in its diversity, the project will use the life stories of ten Jewish women from all seven countries. The target groups will themselves become actors of change by creating their own commemoration outputs such as explainer videos, exhibition banners and lesson projects on Holocaust remembrance. The activities, which will be conducted under the mentorship of the IMAGINE project consortium, will enhance the pedagogical skills of the educational community and raise awareness about the diversity of Jewish life, culture, and heritage in Europe. |
