Description
Description | The iMatterOnline project aims to: a) create a safer digital environment for children by enhancing their digital and emotional skills, and b) empower children to shape online policies that contribute to their safety. This will be achieved through a child rights-based and intergenerational approach, where children are always at the forefront of the project. Together with parents, teachers, ICT professionals, policymakers, and relevant professionals, they will collaborate to promote children's online safety and help shape a better digital environment. The project will use a combination of innovative and research-based methods such as digital literacy packages, edutainment videos, trainings and a policy hackathon to build children’s digital and emotional resilience and inform EU policy making with the participation of children and relevant adults. The project which will run in 4 countries and at European level, will target children 7-18, with a focus on children from vulnerable groups. It will engage 1441 children in the project's activities, 3-10 children from each partner organisation to co-design, co-facilitate, and implement the project's activities and 1198 adults. The overall reach (direct and indirect) of children and adults across Europe will be of 2.3 million. The project consortium consists of Save the Children in Sweden, Romania, Kosovo, Albania and Europe, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, Sector 6 in Romania, Radio La Benevolencija, and a dissemination partner, Lifelong Learning Platform. It directly addresses the priorities of the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child by contributing to a safer digital environment for children and meaningfully involving children in decision making procedures while also contributing to the successful implementation of existing and the shaping of upcoming legislations and policies relevant to children’s rights online in EU Member States and candidate/potential candidate countries. |
