Description | DED is a new technology and foundation for fast adaption in remote areas is quite limited. There is a considerably large number of metal workshops and relevant companies in the Northern Scandinavia, but metal AM and especially DED is yet to be effectively utilized. The outcomes of this project provide insights for the companies from the metal production and the similar sectors to perceive the potential impacts of the AM DED adoption and go through the transition process systematically. Besides, IDiD establishes the foundation for future cross-border RDI of metal AM and smart manufacturing of SMEs to help the sustainable development of the region and boost its competitiveness. The role of flexible DED-based production in crisis situations will be central throughout the project. |
