Implementation of LFS 2026 module on Digital Platform Employment

The proposed project will implement the 2026 ad hoc module of the EU-Labour Force Survey (EU-LFS) about digital platform employment (DPE). The objective is to collect accurate, harmonized data for the timely delivery to Eurostat. In order to reach highest possible data quality, while keeping respondents’ burden at a reasonable level, several conceptual and methodological questions have to be addressed concerning, e.g., false positives/ false negatives, translation, comprehensibility, and routing. Therefore, the project includes the following steps: (1) The translation of the model questions into a language that is comprehensible to the respondents, (2) The implementation of check-up questions to reduce false positive replies, (3) The operationalisation of the questionnaire into different interview modes, (3) The technical implementation of the survey, (4) Preparation of the national microdata, and (5) Quality assessment of the methodology and the data. Pilot studies in different European countries have shown the need for a very careful implementation of the module questions to assure a high level of data quality.
