Implementation of NACE Rev.2.1 into the Austrian Business Register

Within the introduction of the new NACE revision, the Grant NACE Rev.2.1 was announced. The new NACE Rev.2.1 will contain new areas, new explanatory texts and new alphabetical indices, to classify the economic activity of all statistical units. According to EUROSTAT the implementation is set to be due till the end of 2025. However, the Statistik Austria executes the PRODCOM survey on a monthly base. Therefore, it is vital to be done with the implementation to the new NACE till January 2025. The implementation of a new NACE Rev.2.1 into the Austrian Business Register is a complex issue. Therefore, various departments are included in the process. The department of classification will take over the reclassification and the creation of the correspondence tables. The technical department will take over the technical implementation of all necessary tables into the register and will adjust all programs within the register, which will be affected by the revision. Last but not least the register department will take over of the coordination between all three departments, will provide everyone with analyses and solutions and will host the project manager of the Grant Rev.2.1. All three departments will work closely and will be in constant contact. This project will contain several parts of the whole implementation from the old to the new NACE. These parts contain the process of creating a correspondence table, the addition of the national NACE, the technical implementation and the final analyses. The aim of the whole implementation will be to use the processes introduced during the last revision in 2008.
