Description

Description

This project aims to address objectives 1 and 5 outlined in Work Package 1 of this call. A relevant policy need that can be addressed by new statistics is migrant integration. A key pillar of integration is access to the job market and skills training. Data on employment status of the working age population of asylum seekers is sparce. Limitations in coverage and non-response in the migrant community make it difficult to produce indicators of employment on specific migrant groups from surveys such as the Labour Force Survey. Administrative registers may have the potential to produce statistics on asylum seeker integration into the job market. By using data on asylum applicants as a starting point, a “tracer study” will be conducted by linking these persons to other administrative sources to track them in the job market. The aim is to attempt to establish the job status of asylum seekers at a given point in time. The project results will be evaluated including the quality of the administrative sources used and the outputs produced. This will be the basis for recommendations on future work including an assessment of the feasibility of the production of such statistics.
