The objective of the programme is to improve environmental conditions and quality of life of the inhabitants of Managua. As described in the previous chapter, much of the environmental problems of the City of Managua and Lake, originates from the problems of inadequate sanitary sewer and the lack of treatment of sewage, which generates a state environmental pollution and unhealthy conditions affecting large segments of the population, especially the poorest, settled in the stretch of the river. The program is presented that focuses on solving the problems described. This raises the following specific objectives: (i) improving sanitation, reducing and controlling pollution sources by domestic and industrial effluents, (ii) improve the sanitary sewer services, (iii) to recover the recreational uses of Lake.
