Improve access to drinking water in Dhaka’s informal settlements

The project aims to install 3,000 connections in underprivileged areas of Dhaka. The work has been entrusted to NGOs with experience in the water sector and with local roots – mini-grids are built within the slums and then connected to the DWASA network. The population is empowered to pay bills and maintain the facilities, ensuring the project’s sustainability. The NGOs commit themselves to remain present 4 years after the work has been implemented to ensure the proper functioning of the system.In addition, technical assistance is provided to DWASA through logistical and human support to the unit in charge of these social programs, along with vocational training. Consultants are also mobilized to support DWASA in developing a financial model that will enable it to better manage its operations and investments.
