Description
Description | The aim of the FC project is to ensure equal access to sufficient and appropriate sanitation services and to provide basic infrastructure for men, women, girls and boys in need in the Rohingya camps and surrounding host communities in the Coxs Bazar district. The target group is the Rohingya in the refugee camps and the residents of the surrounding communities. The project contributes to improving the living and health situation of the population. It addresses the inadequate sanitation and waste management in the refugee camps. This is intended to reduce the negative effects of improper fecal sludge and waste disposal/treatment on the environment and people. In addition, the project supports the cleaning and rehabilitation of rainwater drainage channels and the improvement of the camp infrastructure with the aim of improving the accessibility and passability of paths within the camps. It also includes a component to promote safe and gender-sensitive access to WASH facilities for women and girls, as well as awareness-raising and support measures to promote improved menstrual hygiene. The measures in the host communities include the construction of additional sanitation infrastructure (latrines). The international organization IOM is the recipient and project sponsor of the FC contribution of EUR 19 million. The project has a term of 30 months. |
