Improvement and development of European business statistics

This project will mainly cover two domains within Short-term business statistics (STS), and this will be performed through two work packages: - In work package 1 we aim to improve the reporting of building start and work completion data for the commercial real estate (CRE) population across the Netherlands. Construction start data will be gap-filled as it often not reported. Work completion data relies on a logical timeline for all building projects, which are often polluted by administrative corrections, errors, and omissions. We will develop methods to improve the quality of construction start data, homogenize timelines of building projects, and to report pilot data on construction start and work completion. - In work package 2 we will aim at speeding up the timeliness of the publication of the producers price index (PPI). This will be done through a thorough investigation of different realisations of the obtained response within each single publication month. Outcomes will be compared to those emerging from the regular production system, in order to decide whether speeding up the publication of the PPI is feasible.
