Improvement of water supply services in small settlements of Šiauliai, Joniakis and Jelgava districts

The problem of the Lielupe river basin is typical for all project partners - river pollution where the main source of pollution is poorly treated waste water which flows into the surface and ground waters. The project aims at reduction of the negative impact on the rivers of the Lielupe river basin by improving the provision of water work services in small settlements of Šiauliai, Joniškis (LT) and Jelgava (LV) districts. A number of technical-economical studies and technical documentation for building/ reconstruction of water work systems in small settlements worked out during the project together with the seminars organized for municipal specialists strengthen the human resources and serve as a basis for further implementation of the investments into water works facilities.
