Description

Description

Core problem Around 80% of the Burkinabe population live from agriculture and are therefore dependent on the sustainable use of the country's natural resources. A continuously increasing need for usable land due to strong population growth, low agricultural productivity and increasing soil degradation pose considerable challenges to the country's food security. Module objective The aim is to increase the yield and productivity of rain-fed agriculture on the rehabilitated areas and to strengthen the resilience of producers to climate change. Key outputs With the help of soil and water conservation measures, such as the construction of stone contour embankments, grass and field margins and demi-lunes (crescent-shaped accumulations of gravel and earth around one or more plants), degraded and/or degraded cultivated areas are to be rehabilitated and protected. Target group The target group of the project is the population in rural areas of the two provinces of Plateau Central and Centre Nord, whose areas will be protected from degradation or whose already degraded areas can be made agriculturally usable again with the help of the measures. This gives local people the opportunity to permanently improve their nutritional situation. Contribution to Agenda 2030 - No Poverty - No Hunger - Sustainable Consumption and Production
