Description

Description

The work undertaken will prepare for the planned implementation of the COICOP 2018 classification into HICP calculations in 2026. Given the unprecedented scope of the changes, the complexity and interdisciplinarity of the issue, and the need to ensure adequate communication with data users, this work should start well in advance. In parallel, the tasks carried out will continue the work of modernising the data sources for the calculation of the HICP indicators. The process of integrating new data sources into the consumer price survey is gradual and conditioned, among other things, by progress in the work on the survey methodology and its organisation. It is necessary to broaden the use of transaction data both by including data from more data providers and by expanding the range of product groups. The use of data from new sources requires much pre-implementation work. Improving the method of integrating data from different sources remains an important methodological challenge. Integrating data from new data sources into existing price index compilation processes requires significant methodological and computational changes.
