Description

Description

The socioeconomically disadvantaged Aral Sea region is characterized by a high burden of disease, a very outdated health system and fragmented health care. Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death. However, the health system is not able to cope with the burden of cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the project is therefore to contribute to an improved health status of the population of the Aral Sea region by introducing integrated, patient-oriented services in the area of cardiovascular diseases. Key measures to achieve the goal are the equipment of hospitals and health facilities at the primary care level in order to increase the quality of services. At the same time, the referral system for cardiovascular diseases is to be improved so that diagnosis and treatment are faster and more adequate. In addition, comprehensive training is planned for health personnel at all levels of care. Capacity building of specialists is planned as part of a twinning partnership with an international institute. The project sponsor is the Uzbek Ministry of Health. The target group of the project is the entire population living in the Aral Sea region, but especially socio-economically weaker groups.
