Description
Description | The funding is intended to ensure the continuation of the livelihood support centers operated by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Akkar, Tripoli and Mount Lebanon for 2019 and 2020. As part of the first phase, the operation of these centers was already supported up to and including February 2019. The range of services offered through the livelihood support centers includes income-generating measures (cash-for-work) for a total of around 2,220 people, vocational (further) training opportunities and business and legal training and advice. It is aimed at people with different professional qualifications. In addition, the services are designed to reach women and young people to a substantial extent. The aim of the FC module, analogous to Phase I, is to noticeably improve the living conditions, in particular the socio-economic circumstances of Syrian refugees and economically weak members of the host Lebanese communities (target group). In order to achieve this, the target group should be given access to decent employment that provides a living wage. As the FC measure is aimed equally at Syrian refugees and members of the host Lebanese communities, it will also defuse competition for scarce income and employment opportunities and thus contribute to a less conflict-ridden coexistence between refugees and members of the host communities. The project is expected to run for 24 months. |
